On the morning after the night before, most of us opt for a lie-in and a fry-up. But after burning the candle at both ends all week, Victoria Beckham decided she needed an A-list approach to get her body back in balance. She took the advice of Gwyneth Paltrow and opted for an ancient Chinese detoxifying treatment known as ‘cupping’.

Running on empty: Victoria Beckham hides cold sore on her upper lip as she arrives at Nice Airport in France yesterday.

Victoria BeckhamHangover cure: The fashion designer also had purple welts on her back, the result of an ancient Chinese detoxifying treatment known as ‘cupping’.

A form of acupuncture, it involves heated glass cups being applied to the skin, and is believed to stimulate the movement of blood and energy. But the procedure left the 36-year old still looking slightly worse for wear as she arrived at Heathrow Airport yesterday, with her back covered in purple welts from the treatment. And her exhaustion was evident as she covered her eyes with dark glasses and attempted to hide a cold sore on her upper lip.

Alternative therapy: It involves heated glass cups being applied to the skin, and is believed to stimulate the movement of blood and energy.

Mrs Beckham has been feeling delicate since celebrating her 11th wedding anniversary in the South of France. A source close to the fashion designer said she ‘went a bit crazy’ and spent all of last weekend drinking at the Beckham holiday chateau in Bargemon. She first showed the effects of her excesses on Tuesday, when she was pictured slumped over in a glass lift as she nursed a hangover on her way back to the UK for a business meeting. But she was back on form – and back in the party spirit – later in the week at a fashion event, where her designer friend Roland Mouret was seen tempting her with her favourite tipple, Champagne. Clearly feeling the effects again, Mrs Beckham is understood to have visited Dr Nish Joshi in London, following a recommendation from Miss Paltrow. The 37-year-old actress stunned fans in 2004 when she turned up to a New York premiere in a low-cut top that revealed large circular bruises covering her back. But despite gushing tributes on his website from celebrities including Sadie Frost, ‘Dr Joshi’ not a recognised medical practitioner in Britain.
