Cupping is an ancient, holistic and natural therapy which helps to detoxify and balance energy in the body. In general, it is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but Hijama Cupping Therapy is more specifically practiced by and is part of Traditional Islamic Medicine (TIM). It is more commonly known as “Tibb un Nabawi” and is the inspirational source for the traditional Greco-Arab or “Unani” medicine taught by Avicenna (ibn-Sina) which is widely practiced in the sub-continent and Middle East today. It considers the correct intake of nutrition, herbs, typology and balance of the “Four Humours” (Blood, Phlegm, Black Bile and Yellow Bile) to be the foundations of good health, as advocated by Greek medics such as Galen and Hippocrates.
Hijama Cupping Therapy offers three application techniques: fixed cupping, massage cupping and Hijama wet cupping. These are all used to treat many conditions such as headaches and migraines; muscular and skeletal issues; sports injuries; pain; skin conditions; constipation and OBGYN issues, to name but a few.
